Wall plug socket to save electricity

Counts down to switch off

The Green Plug Wall Socket from Logicor is said to save electricity in new build homes or as retro-fit to existing buildings and is designed to fit into a deep 47mm back box, whether metal or plastic.

Where the wall socket differs to a standard wall socket is its adjustable air-driven timer function that switches off the power supply completely and automatically after a user-set duration. Once turned off, the Wall Socket and any connected appliances consume zero electricity, therefore saving energy, money and reducing fire hazards.

The user can independently set each of the two plug points in the wall socket for a duration of between 15 minutes and 24 hours. The timer function can also be disabled when necessary to act just like a normal wall socket, switching on and off as and when required.

When the timer duration option is selected, a light display signals when the electricity supply is connected and the air-driven timer device starts counting down to switch off the power completely and automatically after the required time.
The wall socket complements Logicor’s Green Plug energy saver range. The Green Plug is designed to switch off everyday household electrical appliances that are either accidentally left switched on or normally left on standby for long periods of time.

Wasted energy comprises of not just standby usage but also the electricity that is used accidentally when, for example, an iron is left on or items kept charging over night.

Professor Martin Crowder of London’s Imperial College calculates that use of a Logicor Green Plug can save up to £350 from the average annual household energy bill.
